South Africa has capitalised on the awareness generated by the 2010 World Cup, with international tourist arrivals growing by 3.3% last year with over 8 million tourists visiting South Africa last year, Minister of Tourism Martinus van Schalkwyk said on Thursday.

A heart transplant performed 27 years ago has given rise to a 23-year long love story. It also gave a home to a little orphaned girl. Hendrika and Hendrik van Wyk would never have met and married were it not for Hendrika’s donor heart that gave her a new lease on life. Hendrika’s second chance at life also helped to provide a home to 16-year-old Riká Marie, their much cherished adopted daughter who completes the van Wyk family circle.
