Adam Morley from Mossel Bay represents the Garden Route both nationally and internationally as a top body boarder. He finished second in the SABA (South African Body Boarding Association) tour at the end of 2011 and won the Margate classic.
He had one of his best years on the GQS (Grand qualifying series) winning the Sintra Pro in Portugal and finishing 9th on the overall rating. In the GSS (Grand Slam Series) he finished 25th in the world, which is an outstanding achievement for a 22 year old from a small coastal town like Mossel Bay.
With his performance on the international scene, he has now qualified to take part in a major GSS event in Hawaii.
He will be receiving a seeding into the main round of 32 surfers and will be one of two permanent wild cards for the GSS tour in 2012.
Adam leaves for Hawaii on February 3 and returns on February 26.
The contest only starts February 17, giving him enough time to adapt to the powerful waves of North Shore Hawaii.
He is currently focusing on mental preparation, good nutrition, stretching and cross training. This event will be a great way to kick start an attempt to qualify for the GSS in 2013.
